A report presented to the National Security Advisor by the Ministry of Interior’s subordinate intelligence agency has disclosed threat regarding recurrence of international terrorist organization Daesh, also known as Islamic State, in Karachi.

Daesh’s recurrence may stem from splitting of Karachi’s major political party into multiple factions and because of softening of ongoing operation, the report stated. It was further mentioned that Al-Qaeda, banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ISIS have reshuffled in safe sanctuaries of Afghanistan and outcome of which may be fresh wave of terrorism across the country. Furthermore, the report also revealed India and Afghanistan’s malicious desires against multi-billion dollars China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Report termed bad governance, illegal immigrants and political interference as main threat to city’s peace. Report urged elimination of political interference from police department to improve city’s security situation. It was also mentioned that that locals fighting in Iraq and Syria can possibly return home on Daesh’s call in order to spread sectarian violence.
