A PML-N candidate for the upcoming local body elections was shot dead in the Misri Shah police precincts on Monday. Police said Imran, 45, and Mohsin Shah belonged to Wahdat Colony and were friendly with each other before candidates for the elections were announced.

They said Imran got a ticket from the PML-N for Union Council-43 while Shah was supporting an independent candidate. The two exchanged harsh word three days ago, but some local elders intervened and pacified both. However, they came across each other again on Monday and had some argument that enraged Shah who pulled out a pistol and allegedly shot at and injured Imran before fleeing from the scene.

The injured was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Police shifted the body to morgue for medico-legal examination and registered a case. Misri Shah Station House Officer Shabbir Awan said raids were being carried out to arrest the Shah. He claimed Imran was killed over a personal grudge and investigations had been started.
