Punjab Minister for Environment Protection and Police Reforms Committee Chairman Col (r) Shuja Khanzada has said that foolproof security arrangements have been made for mourning congregations and processions, under which 20,000 security officials will be deployed in the city.
He said this during a visit to Imambargahs on Wednesday to review security arrangements and the route of the main mourning procession during Muharram. He added that a comprehensive security plan had been evolved for the holy month, and that a control room had been established at the DCO’s office to monitor the arrangements at Imambargahs and the routes of different processions.
The minister said that cameras would be installed along the routes of the mourning processions and walkthrough gates be erected at entry points to avoid any unpleasant incident. -Dailytimes
