LAHORE: Pak Army athlete Muhammad Abid on Sunday won the 17-kilometre marathon race held as part of the Punjab Sports Festival in Lahore.
The second and third positions were also secured by army athletes – Muhammad Nawaz and Arshad. The professional marathon started at 9:30am from Gaddafi Stadium and finished at the same point. The race was participated by nearly 1,600 young and old athletes, though more than 4,000 people had got themselves registered. Muhammad Abid won the marathon, reaching the finish line in 56 minutes. The event was covered by local and international media teams. Policemen gave a security cover to the participants on motorcycles and jeeps. Rescue 1122 ambulances also accompanied the athletes. – Dailytimes
