International Women’s Day is being observed on March 8 (Wednesday) to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide.

This year theme of the day is “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030.” To mark the day, various governmental and non-government organizations have chalked out special programs to pay tribute to the services of women folk.

In his message on the occasion, United Nations Secretary General António Guterres pledged to do everything to overcome entrenched prejudice, support engagement and activism, and promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
