The government is focusing on implementation of E-office project at ministries and divisions as part of its efforts to ensure transparency and accountability.
Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman while talking to APP said initially the project has been implemented at the Ministry of Information and Technology and now it will be executed in the PM House, Planning Commission and the National Assembly.
She said the implementation of this project will help not only to improve efficiency of the federal and provincial departments in service delivery but also ensure transparency and end corruption in public sector projects. “E-office system would play a vital role in bringing transparency ‘efficiency’ effectiveness and good governance in the Federal Government”.
Besides, the plan is to establish 6,000 telecentres in far-flung areas where facilities of provision of ID Card and biometric system will be available for people. “Moreover, we will focus on e-agriculture and ATM machines will also be installed in flood-affected areas”. The Government is making all efforts to expand the domestic software, IT services and computer hardware industry to US $ 20b by 2025, she added.
She said “We will transform IT and human resource to become a hub of internationally competitive human capital thus making Pakistan a major IT manpower exporter”. -App
