Malik assures early payment of arrears to ERRA, SERRA contractors

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Thursday assured early payment of arrears to the contractors associated with the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) and the State Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Agency (SERRA).He was talking to a delegation, which called on him here, led by PML-Q leader Marvi Memon and MNA Shahjehan Yousuf.He informed the delegation that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani had approved an amount of Rs. 12 billion for welfare of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and payment of arrears to the contractors.Acting Chief Secretary of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Tariq Khan and Director General of SERRA Liaquat Ali were also present on the occasion, said a press release.Rehman Malik said after approval of the grant, the matter of payment to the contractors now stands settled.
The delegation thanked the Prime Minister and Interior Minister for taking keen interest to resolve the issue.Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of ERRA Haroon Aslam also called on the Interior Minister and discussed the issue of payment to the contractors.Rehman Malik said the government would utilize all available resources for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the earthquake affected areas  – App
