ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has excused itself from verifying the degrees of the parliamentarians due to non cooperation of the universities and the lawmakers.According to private TV, The HEC pointed out that the lawmakers were not providing the required documents and we are not going to beg them.Up till now Punjab University has not verified 218 certificates, Peshawar University, 123; Sindh University, 20 and Bahaudin Zakaria University 10.Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken strong notice of the stand taken by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) over degree verification and said it was the duty of the HEC to complete the task.ECP spokesman, Afzal Khan, while talking to media said 70 percent of degree verification process has been completed and the remaining job should also be done by the commission.The HEC was bound to follow the orders of the Chief Election Commissioner and be informed in written if there were any hurdles – Sananews
