In a move to deepen economic ties, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah is leading a high-level delegation to Pakistan today, starting a significant two-day visit. This visit is designed to fast-track the implementation of previous agreements struck between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman during a recent gathering in Makkah.
The delegation, which includes Saudi Minister of Water and Agriculture Eng Abdul Rahman Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadley, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Ibrahim AlKhorayef, Deputy Minister of Investment Badr AlBadr, and other key officials, aims to bolster bilateral economic cooperation. Discussions will focus on various sectors, including investments, industry, and agriculture.
Key meetings are scheduled with Pakistan’s top leaders, including the President, the Prime Minister, and the Chief of Army Staff, underscoring the visit’s importance. These discussions are expected to pave the way for a $5 billion investment previously discussed between the nations, with hopes of revitalizing Pakistan’s economy.
The visit follows closely on the heels of Prime Minister Shehbaz’s trip to Saudi Arabia, where he sought to attract significant investment as part of Pakistan’s efforts under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). This initiative aims to streamline processes and eliminate bureaucratic obstacles to foreign investment, positioning Pakistan to potentially secure billions in Saudi investment.
