Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has vehemently denied allegations made by PTI’s founding chairman Imran Khan regarding the Toshakhana case, labeling them as “false, fabricated, and baseless”. In a statement released on social media, Tarar accused Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, of being directly involved in corruption and embezzlement linked to the Toshakhana, a repository for state gifts.
He highlighted past actions and campaigns by Khan that he deemed disrespectful towards state institutions and martyrs, asserting that recent statements from Khan stem from a state of panic.
The controversy ignited following Khan’s statements made during a media talk at Adiala jail, where he is currently imprisoned. Khan alleged that senior military leadership had orchestrated his and his wife’s involvement in the Toshakhana case as part of a broader scheme he referred to as the “London Plan”, allegedly devised between the current army chief and Nawaz Sharif. Khan further claimed that the judiciary, influenced by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was complicit in this plan.
Despite his current imprisonment and the serious accusations leveled against him, Khan remains steadfast in his resolve, stating, “I will not accept anyone’s slavery and rather prefer death.” He also commented on the current government’s operations, suggesting that real power lies behind the scenes, and questioned the authority of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The political saga continues as Khan alleges efforts to coerce former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry and other party members into testifying against him. Khan’s bold claims and the government’s staunch denial have further intensified the political drama, leaving the nation awaiting the next development in this unfolding narrative.
