With substantial improvement in the law and order situation in the metropolis, there seems a great deal of enthusiasm to celebrate the ‘Youm-e-Azadi’ in a big way on August 14. A large number of makeshift shops have also sprung up in various parts of the city selling the national flags of different sizes, buntings, souvenirs, stickers, pictures and portraits of Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, as well as of the national leaders and heroes. The national flags have also been hoisted on the public and private buildings, residences.

The vehicles plying on the roads have also been carrying national flags. Various organizations and institutions have chalked out elaborate programmes in connection with the Independence Day celebrations. These include seminars, symposia, debate, skits, tableau, competition of national songs etc. The University of Karachi will hold a walk at the campus on August 12. It will be led by the Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser.
