State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has on Tuesday announced issuing a new 5-rupee coin. The coin will be available from the exchange counters of all the offices of SBP.

According to the central bank, the new coin will be issued on October 15, 2015. The coin is 3 grams in weight. It is made of 79% copper, 20% zinc and 1% nickel.

There is a rising star on the front of the coin in which ‘Islami Jamhuriya Pakistan’ is imprinted while there are stars and flowers imprinted on the back. However, the old 5-rupee coin is still legal and will remain in circulation for now.
