Referring to December 16 tragedy in Peshawar where Taliban terrorists killed nearly 140 schoolchildren, General Sharif asserted the incident clearly tells that saboteurs can go to any extreme. He vowed to eliminate terrorists from Pakistan, saying, “Pakistan is in the state of war.” “The military courts were set up in accordance with the wish of people,” he remarked. Commenting on issues faced by IDPs displaced by North Waziristan operation, the army chief noted that the measures are being taken up for the rehabilitation of the IDPs, adding Pakistan will soon get over all the problems despite numerous challenges it is facing.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) director Major General Asim Bajwa, the Army chief visited the Royal College of Defence Studies and the Sandhurst Military Academy on Thursday. Army spokesman Bajwa said that General Sharif presented Pakistan’s perspective on security and the challenges faced. Addressing Pakistani cadets at Sandhurst, the army chief advised them to excel and make their country proud. The Army chief is currently on a three-day tour of Britain. –SAMAA
