Winter, spring, summer, and autumn, the 4 seasons Mother Nature blesses us with each year. Seasons are comforting, and they help ease the monotony of time.

In some parts of the world seasons are far more noticeable than others. For instance, living in Southern California I see far fewer changes throughout the year than someone living in Toledo, Ohio. Still, as autumn takes over summer, the leaves shed and change colors just like they do all over the world.
The reason that leaves change color in the fall is because this is the time when the Chlorophyll, the green pigment in leaves, breaks down and reveals the many other colors hidden within green foliage. No matter where you live, rich shades of yellow, red, brown, and orange come to life each fall. Unfortunately, the everyday hustle and bustle gets so busy that sometimes we forget to notice the beautiful changes happening all around us. In truth, the passing of summer and the introduction of fall morph entire landscapes into a different scene.
These 12 before and after photos show just how diverse a landscape can become in the fall.
Kilchurn Castle, Scotland
This 15th and 17th century structure is only ruins, although it still remains stoic and beautiful. The castle itself is incredible to witness, but so too are the surrounding natural sights including the lake and the lush mountainsides.
If you are able to enter the top of the castle, the 360-degree views are out of this world amazing.

Grand Island East Channel Lighthouse, Michigan, USA
Built back between 1868 and 1870, this lighthouse has seen the passings and goings of many summers and autumns.
Gapstow Bridge, New York, USA
Gapstow bridge is an iconic site located in Central Park. The stone structure was built back in 1896 to replace another bridge that was once here. Built in 1874, the original wood bridge did not hold up to the wear and tear required. Gapstow Bridge is 12 feet high, 46 feet long, and covers 44 feet of water.
Gapstow Bridge is featured in so many famous movies including Sex and the City, Gossip Girl, The Devil Wears Prada, and Home Alone 2, just to name a few. Although thanks to the changing seasons of NYC, the bridge always looks a little bit different according to the time of year.
Forest Lake, Poland
Glenfinnan Viaduct, Scotland
Autumn brings some of the biggest changes of all the seasons, as the days shorten in length and warmer days turn into frosty nights. Rain, winds, and plant colors are other prominent changes that come around every autumn.
