The first-ever Prime Minister’s Provision of Laptop Scheme was formally launched here on Friday by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif under Prime Minister’s Youth Programme. The maiden national-level scheme will be supervised by Maryam Nawaz Sharif Chairperson Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.
The Prime Minister would distribute the laptops among the students hailing from all the provinces including FATA, Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan with an objective to boost the scope of research, quality education and improved access to information and communication technology among the graduate and post-graduate level students in the country. The Rs 4.0 billion scheme would cover 100,000 students across the country.
Sources said PTCL EVO 3G dongle would also be provided for free internet access for three months and further explained that an inbuilt App in the laptops would provide various academic productivity tools to the students including a Digital Library to access more than 6,000 research journals offered under National Digital Library Program besides a lot of other online facilities to the students. – SAMAA
