ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has issued 1,49,106 arms licenses in last five years,Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Thursday told National Assembly.
In a written reply to the question of MNA Mehboob Alam,he said 59,123 arm licenses were issued in 2009, 17,569 in 2010, 13,429 in 2011, 28,599 in 2012 and 30,386 arm licenses have been issued upto March 2013. He said the prohibited bore arms licenses are issued with the consent of Prime Minister and non prohibited with the approval of Minister/secretary for interior. In written reply to the question of Maulana Ameer Zaman, the minister said 1554 computerised national identity cards (CNIC) from three districts Loralai, Muskhel and Barkhan have been blocked due to various reasons.
A total of 138 CNICs issued to non nationals have been cancelled and 1,416 CNICs have also been cancelled due to doubtful citizenship of the individuals.Giving breakup he said 1517 CNICs of individuals belonging to Loralai have been blocked, 25 CNICs of individuals of
Mushakhel, 12 CNICs of the persons of Barkhan have been blocked.He said NADRA has constituted zonal board and necessary coordination have already been made with Chief Secretary Balochistan and DCOs concerned to speed up verification of persons (whose CNICs have been blocked) so that genuine citizens may not suffer unnecessarily. – APP
