LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday said he had made it clear to administration and police officers not to succumb to any political pressure in campaign against power and gas thefts and crackdown against such criminals be continued irrespective of any consideration.
He expressed these views while talking to members of national and provincial assembly of PML-N belonging to Sahiwal division at Chief Minister’s Office.PML-N government was taking measures on war-footing basis to resolve energy problem and a crackdown was going on against power and gas thefts along with controlling line losses.Sharif said former rulers demonstrated criminal negligence towards energy sector and thereby committed an unpardonable crime. The chief minister expressed hope that energy crisis will be overcome with the grace of the god, cooperation of masses and effective measures taken by the government.
The CM said big fish were also being netted in the drive against gas and electricity theft while the government officials involved will also have to face punishment for their misdeeds. He said the cooperation of public representatives was utmost important in the campaign against electricity and gas theft.He said PML-N government had promised to the nation a change in Patwari and Thana culture and it will honor its pledge at any cost and justice will be ensured to the masses.
The CM stressed upon ministers and government officers to keep their doors open for the general public and spare no effort in resolving the problems of the people. He said PML-N government is working on a three point agenda which is solution of energy crisis, change of Thana culture and elimination of bribery. He said the state of the art facilities had been provided at Forensic Science Agency set up by Punjab government for investigation of heinous crimes on scientific lines. He said that besides veteran politicians, Muslim League-N also has young leadership therefore no problem is too big.
Assembly members informed the CM about ongoing development activities and problems of their respective areas. The Chief Minister assured elected representatives that their problems will be resolved on priority basis as he believed that service to the people was the best form of worship.Provincial Ministers Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Atta Muhammad Manika, Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Tanveer Aslam Malik, Chaudhary Shafique, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretaries and administrative and police officers of Sahiwal division were present on the occasion. – DailyTimes
