ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has offered the main accused in the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) corruption case, Tauqir Sadiq, to become an approver against certain political figures.
According to media reports, NAB asked Sadiq to become approver against former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervez Ashraf and other officials allegedly involved in multi-billion rupee scam.Earlier, NAB unveiled names of two former prime ministers allegedly responsible for appointing Sadiq and giving him protection.
Former interior minister Rehman Malik and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Jehangir Badr allegedly helped Sadiq escape the country, while former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain has been involved for his alleged role in issuing licences for setting up CNG stations.The former OGRA chairman had fled abroad soon after theSupreme Court declared his appointment illegal on November 25, 2012. – PT
