NADRA launches hotlines to address public complaints

ISLAMABAD: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on the directives of Interior Federal Minister Ch Nisar launched two hotlines 7000 and 051-111-786-100 in order to help citizens for timely resolution of their complaints.

Citizens shall be able to call on these two lines to register their complaints and know the status of their identity cards. The voiceover service on 7000 is supported for customers of Mobilink, Telenor and Zong while negotiations with Ufone and Warid Tel are in progress.NADRA’s PTCL helpline 051-111-786-100 is also available for all and it provides the best one window customer relation management solution to bridge the gap between citizens and organisation through its four contact centres established in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Swat.

The NADRA spokesperson in a statement issued Tuesday said these hotlines would help in continuous monitoring of the functions of organisation, particularly in reference to redressing public grievances and complaints. This system for the public is based on the framework of guiding principles and practices aimed at ensuring highest standards of efficiency, integrity, accountability and transparency in solving their problems. Moreover, this would also help to identify and affect the corrective action of NADRA personnel and sensitise the consumer-product related information to general public and register complaints. This system is integrated with countrywide operators and the telecom companies.

She said the NADRA has also set-up SMS service for verification of CNIC. The general public can verify the CNIC by sending CNIC number to 7000. This can be used for verification of the credentials of household-workers, servants, maids or at the time of making business deals or verifying the CNIC submitted by their employees. This service also aims to enable the police and other law enforcement agencies to verify the CNIC of any suspect at checkpoint any time, besides helping common people to avoid the bids of cheating by mischievous people as they can verify the CNIC of any person on SMS. The people can avail this facility from any telecom network.

The spokesperson said that verification would be done in real time communication with NADRA’s National Data Warehouse, using NADRA and mobile phone companies strong network infrastructure. She said the CNIC number in question, would be sent through SMS at special number ‘7000’ and in response, the NADRA would provide details associated with that CNIC such as name of the person to whom the CNIC allotted along with his father’s name and in case of a married women her husband’s name, or subsequently any other content. These steps will not only help curb the menace of identity theft but also assist the law enforcement agencies in prevailing law and order situation, she added. – DailyTimes
