Lahore: A 10-member new Punjab cabinet is scheduled to take oath here on Monday (today) at the Governor’s House at 7 pm.
Acting Punjab Governor Rana Muhammad Iqbal would administer oath to the cabinet ministers. Following acceptance of Makhdum Ahmed Mehmud’s resignation by President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday, Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Iqbal has assumed responsibilities as acting governor.
The expected new Punjab cabinet consists of Rana Sanaullah, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Zakia Shahnawaz, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Rana Arshad, Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Iqbal Chanter, Tahir Khalil Sindhu, Nadeem Kamran and Malik Nawaz.Of these, five MPAs have already served as minister in the previous Punjab cabinet while an equal number have been taken from amongst the new members.
Sources in the PML-N confirmed that former Law Minister Rana Sanaullah would have the portfolios of law and parliamentary affairs and the local government department with the status of senior minister. The portfolios of other ministers would be decided later. – Nation
