90pc polls in Balochistan ‘fair’

QUETTA: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Tassaduq Hussain Gilani has said they have received complaints of rigging merely from 10 per cent areas of Balochistan.

Talking to media here Wednesday, he said that transparent and fair polls were held in 90 per cent areas of the province and transparency of the electoral process was also endorsed by the European election observers. “Objections regarding poll rigging are being heard to ensure justice,” he said. He informed the number of tribunals was being increased to ensure hearing on daily basis.

He said the European Union had also recognised that 90 per cent elections were transparent. He said due to deteriorated law and order situation, the people faced difficulties during the polls.Earlier, Gilani also presided over a meeting attended by Election Commission members Justice (retd) Fazalur Rehman, Syed Sultan Bayazid and other officials. – Nation
