ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday on the advice of the Prime Minister approved nomination of two judges of Lahore High Court.
The judges Mr. Justice Muhammad Anwaarul Haq and Mr. Justice Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa will function as Appellate tribunal No.3 in addition to the already constituted appellate tribunals No.1 and 2 for disposal of appeals arising out of the decisions of the returning officers for the constituencies falling under the territorial jurisdiction of principal seats of High court.
Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said the summary received by the Presidency states that keeping in view the filling of large number of appeals with the two existing appellate tribunals on the principal seat of Lahore High Court, the Election Commission on the proposal of Chief Justice Lahore High Court nominated the above mentioned tribunal.
After the approval of nomination by the President, the Election Commission of Pakistan will transfer an appropriate number of appeals to this newly constituted tribunal for disposal in accordance with law. – APP
