LAHORE: An appeal has been filed at the election tribunal of Lahore High Court, requesting to set aside the accepted nomination papers of PML-N Chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif who is contesting election from NA-120 of Lahore.
A candidate from PP-140 Lahore, Asfshan Ameerud Din, a sister of Arif Ameer alias Tippu Truckaanwala who was assassinated on January 22, 2010 in Lahore, filed the appeal against acceptance of Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers.Appellant’s counsel stated that the applicant had raised objection but the returning officer Sajjad Ahmad had dismissed it and had accepted the nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif.
Counsel said that the Supreme Court in Asghar Khan case had held that legal proceedings should be initiated against the politicians who had allegedly received donations to spend on election campaign in 1990 elections. He said that there was need for transparent investigation on the criminal side by the FIA.The applicant’s counsel alleged that Sharif had occupied the property owned by the applicant and two other sisters. He also alleged that Mian Nawaz Sharif was a defaulter in terms of Article 62 and 63 of the constitution.
