Shaukat offers trained human resource to Republic of Korea

PESHAWAR: Governor Shaukatullah has offered trained human resource to the Republic of Korea and asked the honourary consul of Korea in Peshawar to help bring modern technology and investment into the province.

He was speaking at a dinner hosted in honour of recently-appointed honourary consul of Republic of Korea in Peshawar, Afan Aziz. The governor said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should adopt the example of Sri Lanka that trained housemaids and sent them abroad to earn huge foreign exchange. He said there was an institute for the purpose in the province that can trained people and send abroad that need certified labour.

He said if the consul could take appropriate steps for the export of the certified labour, the government had the infrastructure to provide him such labour and human resource for Korea.Responding to the remarks of Afan Aziz that Korea had made advancement in technology, Shaukatullah said that Pakistan needed that technology and the honourary consul should use his good offices for bringing the same to the province.

He said the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) were rich in mineral, hydel and other natural resources and thus had the potential for the direct foreign investment. Therefore, the consul should also work for bringing Korean investment into the province, he said.Earlier, in his keynote speech, Afan Aziz said that the Korean government and investors had shown great interest in the hydel potential while they were also working on some in the province.

He maintained that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could benefit from the experience of Korea in several fields, adding till early 70s Korea was less developed than Pakistan but now it was more developed and advanced.Afan Aziz, who is also former president Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI), he would put in all efforts to bring maximum investment into the province.
