Magsi accepts 18 ministers’ resignations

QUETTA: Balochistan government has once again plunged into crisis as 18 trusted Ministers and Advisers in Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani’s Cabinet have tendered their resignations to Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, who has accepted them.

Those ministers and Advisers whose resignations have been approved included PPP members Mir Sadiq Umrani, Babu Amin Umrani, Jan Ali Changezai, Asfandyar Kakar, Ghazala Gola, Abdul Rehman Jamali, Agha Irfan Kareem, PML-Q Babu Muhammad Rahim Mengal, Habibur Rehman Muhammad Hassani, Amanullah Notezai, Shama Perveen Magsi, Basant Lal Gulshan, Dr. Ruqia Saeed Hashmi, Sobia Kiran Kibzai, Sardar Masood Looni, Hamal Kalmati, Independent members, Sardar Aslam Bizenjo and Mir Zahoor Buledi, besides, PML-N Captain (r) Abdul Khaliq.

About 12 Ministers who personally tendered their resignations were present while it has been claimed that 7 Ministers dispatched their resignations through fax and Governor Balochistan has approved their resignations.Talking to media after approval of resignations, PPP provincial President Mir Sadiq Umrani said that PPP members of Assembly were with them ,adding, that they had not violated discipline rather PPP leader Ali Madad Jattak was violating discipline.

He said that they wanted rule of law and supremacy of Constitution in the province ,adding, that they had also support of PML-N Ministers. “Opposition leader in Balochistan has support of 40 members out of 65,” Umrani claimed. He said that they wanted an independent and impartial interim set up in Balochistan thus they would also hold talks with parties outside the Parliament.  “We would not allow any one to usurp the mandate of people,” he added.

Responding to a question, he said eight Ministers of PPP had handed over their resignations to Governor Balochistan. On the other hand, sources said that 13 Ministers of BNP-Awami and JUI-F had also dispatched their resignations which had been not approved so far.Sources said that Chief Minister had also sent a letter to Governor for the dismissal of 13 Ministers of BNP-Awami and JUI-F due to which the Governor had not approved their resignations.

Earlier, the Cabinet meeting called by Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani could not be held owing to rift in government as a good number of the members have joined the Opposition.Sources said Speaker Syed Matiullah Agha has decided to challenge the verdict of BHC in which it had restored Nawabzada Tariq Magsi as Opposition leader in the Provincial Assembly.Speaker Syed Matiullah Agha had suspended the notification of former Speaker Muhammad Bhootani who had issued notification of nominating Tariq Magsi as Opposition leader, however, the Balochistan High Court later against restored Tariq Magsi as Opposition leader.
