LAHORE: Punjab Election Commissioner Syed Muhammad Tariq Qadri on Wednesday met Chief Secretary Nasir Mehmood Khosa in connection with pre-arrangements for the forthcoming general election.
Joint Provincial Election Commissioner Khaleequr Rehman, Additional Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, Home Secretary Shahid Khan, Punjab IG Khan Muhammad, Finance Secretary Tariq Bajwa, Higher Education Secretary Sohail Shehzad and Local Government Secretary Sikander Sultan were also present in the meeting.
The agenda of meeting included maintenance of law and order, security plan, facilitating monitoring teams, provision of video cameras, transportation of election material and activities of the voters’ education campaign.The chief secretary told the provincial election commissioner that instructions would be issued to all district coordination officers, district police officers, and district administrations to strictly implement the code of conduct as per the directives of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The secretary said that an effective security plan had been made for sensitive polling stations, and that he had written to all districts for the provision of video cameras at sensitive polling stations. The chief secretary also issued instructions to all districts to ensure reasonable storage places for keeping election material. He also assured the provincial election commissioner for his full support regarding the voters’ education and awareness campaign. – DailyTimes
