KARACHI: Turkish Coast Guard delegation comprising five officers have arrived here on Tuesday on a four-day visit to Pakistan. The delegation was headed by Rear Admiral (UH) Hasan Usakliogl.
The delegation members visited HQ Maritime Security Agency to discuss matters of mutual interests and enhancement of bilateral relations between the two law enforcement agencies. The delegation was briefed about the role, functions and importance of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA). Both the LEAs discussed maters/issues related with joint training, maritime security in Indian Ocean and concept of collaborative security against piracy.
Additionally, topics of anti drug trafficking and human smuggling were also came under discussion during interactive sessions. It was decided to conduct joint workshops on topics of maritime security, which were also agreed during the meeting. It may be recalled that recent years have witnessed enhanced cooperation between PMSA and Turkish Coast Guard. In this connection, a high level delegation of PMSA headed by Cdre Azir Mumtaz (SBt) visited Turkish Coast Guard in June 2012. – Dailytimes
