KARACHI: All is set to kick off work on Rs.25 billion mega water supply project K-IV in the city from the mid of current month, a meeting of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB), presided over by its Managing Director Misbahuddin Fareed, was told.
With completion of K-III project, the KWSB had started working for K-IV project to ensure water supply to the Karachi in view of its increasing requirement. “President Asif Zardari, Sindh Governor, Chief Minister and LG minister extended full cooperation to the KWSB due to which approval of Rs.25 billion was made possible,” MD said. The meeting was informed that tenders have been issued for the project and President Asif Zardari would lay foundation stone of the project during mid-December.
The project would be completed in three phases after which the citizens would receive 650 million gallons of additional water on daily basis. The K-IV project would spread over 124 kilometres from Keenjhar Lake in Thatta district to Northern bypass. On completion of first phase, the water availability to the citizens would increase up to 910 million gallons daily. – Dailytimes
