IGP Sindh issues directions for controlling Karachi violence

KARACHI: IG Sindh Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari has issued special directives to zonal DIGs and Divisional SSPs to take counter-terrorism measures preventing further killings in the city.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Fayyaz Leghari said that the report be forwarded ensuring departmental action against the relevant SHOs and DSPs of the areas where ‘Double-sawari’ restriction could not be implemented.In addition, directions to constitute a special team in the chairmanship of DIG East to probe the killing of 6 persons who had been killed as a result of firing in Gulshan-e-Iqbal were also issued by IG Sindh. The team includes SSP Niaz Khoso, SSP Farooq Awan and respective DSPs and SHOs, he added.

IG Sindh also directed Additional IG Karachi to accelerate targeted operation and enable effective coordination with the intelligence agencies to get better results. He further said that special committees should be made to combine the efforts of Ulemas of all sects, leaders and members of civil society, in accordance with the principle of community policing in order to improve law and order situation in the city.He warned the police officers that negligence of any kind on their part would not be tolerated. – Onlinenews
