LAHORE: Some twenty armed land grabbers on Thursday forcibly occupied 15 acres of agricultural land owned by Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) Managing Director Rao Tehseen Ali Khan and took hostage four of his workers.
According to details, the men armed with sophisticated weapons and led by Mumtaz Chachar and Chaudhry Iqbal, barged into the APP MD’s agriculture land situated at Dipalpur Bypass, Okara.They opened fire and took hostage four of the workers present on the land. The attackers also deprived the inmates of their valuables. The matter was reported to the local police but no action has yet been taken.
Meanwhile, the APP Employees Union Punjab condemned the incident and urged the Punjab government to initiate action against land mafia to protect life and property of the citizens.The union also appealed to the Lahore High Court chief justice to take suo motu notice of the incident and urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and IG Haji Habibur Rehman to take strict action against the culprits. – Dailytimes
