LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday “revolutionary” changes had been brought about in education, health and infrastructure sectors due to a comprehensive strategy adopted by the provincial government.
Talking to assembly members from various districts, Shahbaz said the popularity of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was not only increasing in Punjab but throughout the country. He added PML-N candidates would win the next general elections with a thumping majority because the party had solved people’s problems and implemented a number of programmes for their welfare. The chief minister said that it has been revealed in a recent Gallup survey that not only “support for the PML-N was growing but the popularity of its president, Nawaz Sharif, was also on the rise”.
“This proves that people like the PML-N and its leadership and will vote for its candidates in the forthcoming elections. As a result, the PML-N will form its governments all over the country.”He said that due to “revolutionary” development programmes initiated by the PML-N government during the last four-and-a-half years, a network of welfare-oriented projects had been laid throughout the province. He said that contrary to loot and corruption during the dictatorial era, a new culture of transparency and merit has been introduced for the execution of development schemes.
Shahbaz said that the PML-N did not need a certificate of appreciation from anyone because confidence of people in the party was enough for it. He said that due to inefficiency, corruption and nepotism of the federal government, people were facing the menace of worst load shedding that had rendered thousands of workers jobless.
The chief minister said that people were not ready to tolerate corrupt rulers anymore. He said the PML-N government did not believe in power for the sake of power but considered it a means of serving people. He said the PML-N government in Punjab had taken some tough decisions for the welfare of people and even “its critics cannot point a finger at it as it has promoted transparency and merit in every sector”.Shahbaz said that corruption and malpractices had been rooted out through good governance all over the province. He said that the Punjab government had taken lead in providing “maximum” facilities to people.
The chief minister said that party workers who had rendered sacrifices during the dictatorial era were an asset for the PML-N and upholding their respect and honour was his responsibility. He said that problems of PML-N workers would be resolved on priority basis. He vowed that the country would be put on the road to progress and prosperity under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif. “Such a Pakistan will be built where there is predominance of constitution, law and justice and equal opportunities of progress are available to all citizens,” he said. – Dailytimes
