Park fireworks tops CDA plan to celebrate Aug 14

Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Engineer Farkhand Iqbal on Sunday said that the authority has made comprehensive arrangements for celebrating Independence Day in the federal capital.

“People from different walks of life are being involved in these celebrations. The authority would organise a colourful event at the Fatima Jinnah (F9) Park. It would be marked with a display of fireworks, which is expected to be participated by hundred of thousands of people from Islamabad and other areas of the country,” Iqbal said while chairing a meeting to finalise the arrangements. He said that being the federal capital, Islamabad would be a model in celebrations with enthusiasm and national spirit.

The meeting was participated by Member (Environment) Mian Waheeduddin, Water Management Director General Sanaullah Aman, DMA Deputy DG Mansoor Ahmed Khan and the relevant directors of the authority. The CDA chairman said that the authority has also arranged gifts for the children participating in the celebrations. He said that all the major buildings will be illuminated and the roads and routes will be decorated with banners, streamers and other material, including national flag, reflecting national integrity and jubilation.

He said, “We are expecting a good number of participants to join in the fireworks and other events as a lot of people would be coming from Rawalpindi and other adjoining areas of the capital city.” Iqbal directed the formations concerned to make elaborate arrangements for water supply, cleanliness and decoration. He also directed to coordinate with the other relevant department of the ICT for the security. – Dailytimes
