KARACHI: Pakistan fared very well at 20th Kunming International Trade Fair and 5th South Asian Countries Trade Fair in China by dominating all the South Asian countries not only in terms of being focus country but also in terms of its theme area built in the center of Kunming Exhibition Centre.
Record participation of Pakistani exhibitors with 150 booths and huge sale of Pakistani products was reported.According to preliminary estimates, there was a record sale of Pakistani products worth over Rs 300 million and 90 percent of the exhibitors sold their entire products they brought from Pakistan, which is a big success.Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) organised Pakistan’s participation in the event.
The provincial leadership of Yunnan province in particular and central leadership of China in general appreciated and congratulated Makhdoom Amin Fahim, senior Federal Minister for Commerce for large scale and prominent participation in the fair.Commerce Minister was also the keynote speaker for the 7th China South Asia Business Forum, where Pakistan held the rotating chairmanship this year.
One of the important sales in this fair was an extra large Pakistani hand knitted carpet, which is one of the largest carpets in the world and famous as Farsh-e-Azam. The quality products from Pakistan including leather products, textile and textile garments, furniture, cutlery, herbal products, handicrafts of wood, marble and brass were appreciated by the visitors and all were sold.
Another important feature of this year’s event was introduction and promotion of Pakistani rice in the Yunnan province.The 10-member delegation of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan marketed Pakistani rice during the event. – Dailytimes
