ISLAMABAD: Chairman Public Accounts Committee, Nadeem Afzal Chan Tuesday said that the feudal, bureaucrats, businessmen and investors are responsible for the destruction of Pakistan’s economy.
He said this during discussion on 2011-12 budget’s Audit report in the National assembly session chaired by Speaker National Assembly, Dr Fehmida Mirza while the several parliamentarians participated in the discussion. Nadeem Afzal Chan said that tractors prices were increased from four lakh to eight lakh when it was discussed to impose tax on tractors but the government did not recover tax from the Factory owners, adding that taxes were imposed on elite class in Shaukat Aziz regime but the successor government had removed these taxes. He suggested that taxes should be imposed on the banks. He said that investors and Bureaucrats do not have affiliation with any political party but they could make the politicians fool at any time.
“Now a days we are giving priority to the political practices which are considered suitable for external forces and investors. Need of the time is to get rid off dictatorship elements from our parties only this way we are able to distinguish between truth and lie”, he said. Meanwhile, MQM’s parliamentarians staged walk out against the killing of former MPA’s brother and did not participate in the discussion. PPP’s parliamentarian, Asghar Jat congratulated the Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on achieving historical milestone by presenting 5th budget, adding that the government would implement on the formula of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to tackle energy crisis in the country. PML-Q parliamentarian, Atiya Inayat ullah said that in the presence of worst economic situation the incumbent government has presented most difficult budget, as it did not impose any extra burden on the public.
During the discussion the PML-N parliamentarian, General Rtd Abdul Qadir Baloch said that the government failed to provide relief to the masses as the current budget is not friendly but it is bureaucratic budget. He said that the government failed to bring down inflation in the country while it remained above double figure, adding that the investment was recorded below two thousands billion. “From where the government would get money to implement on this budget when foreign investment in the country is near to nil, adding that without assurance of security foreign investors would never invest in the country”, he said. He said that it is not fair that one party claims Karachi as the city belongs to all political parties, including MQM, PPP and PML-N.
He said that the center is blaming Punjab for electricity crisis while the country economy is facing crucial time due to worst law and order situation. He said that efforts have been made to resolve Balochistan issue through the Supreme Court but the issue could not be resolved by throwing decomposed bodies. Abdul Qadir Baloch said that all the political leaders, including the president Asif Ali Zardari, PM Gilani, Maulan Fazal Ur Rehman, Imran Khan and Altaf Hussain would work jointly to resolve Balochistan issue. Meanwhile, Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza has adjourned the session upto 5.pm Wednesday.-Onlinenews
