LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party Secretary General Senator Jahangir Badr on Sunday alleged the rulers of Punjab were grabbing commercial land by clearing it off traders.

Talking to the media after addressing a traders’ gathering at the old vegetable and fruit market, Kot Lakhpat, he said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif did not believe in democracy as he had himself admitted in a statement, adding PML-N leaders were followers of dictators. He said the PPP was working for the rights of poor people and deprived class of the society. To a question, he said the present government was not responsible for load shedding as it had inherited the problem from its predecessors.

To a question about the energy crisis, he said the government could not overcome it due to unexpected demand of electricity and rapid increase in the population. Badr alleged energy theft was started by the Sharif brothers in the country, adding almost every capitalist was a thief of energy.Earlier, addressing the gathering, he alleged the Punjab rulers were not respecting court orders on the fruit market at Kot Lakhpat. He said the rulers were evicting traders and depriving more than 0.5 million people of their jobs for their own benefit.

He alleged Shahbaz Sharif was deceiving poor people by organising a camp office at Minar-e-Pakistan. He told the traders the PPP was with them and working for their rights.Adviser to Prime Minister Aslam Gill, speaking on the occasion, said that PPP had offered great sacrifices for the country, democracy and the poor. He added the PPP would sweep the next general elections and would be in a position to form its government in Punjab. He criticized Shahbaz Sharif and said he was using derogatory and unparliamentary language against Prsident Asif Ali Zardari and was conspiring against the federal government.

He also criticized the PML-N role in the Parliament during the budget session. He said the Punjab government had wasted billions of rupees on useless and faulty projects. He said the PPP would win local government elections which would be held on party basis. – PT
