QUETTA: The Supreme Court on Monday resumed the hearing in the Balochistan law and order case, Media reported.
A three-judge bench of the apex court comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Jawad S. Khwaja was hearing the case.The chief justice expressed displeasure over the press conference recently held by Inspector General of Frontier Corps (FC), Major General, Obaidullah Khan Khattak. He said it was not the business of an official serving in a uniform to hold a press conference.
Justice Iftikhar said that the situation of the province was alarming and that instead of moving toward improvements, the conditions in Balochistan were deteriorating.He said 20 people had been killed in the province during the past two to three days.
The chief justice moreover said that every other case was against the FC and that bodies turn up of those who provide evidence against them.Justice Iftikhar said that the court wanted to know what the role of the constitutional government was. He said time had come to summon someone with authority.He further said that the court would call the army chief and ask him how the country should be run, adding that the court could issue the order under Article 190 of the Constitution. – Dawn
