Cabinet Energy Committee to meet frequently on shortage

Cabinet Energy Committee

ISLAMABAD: Cabinet Energy Committee comprising Finance, Petroleum, Water and Power and Information ministers, deputy chairman Planning Commission and governor State Bank of Pakistan will meet frequently to sort out issue of energy shortages in the country.

This was decided on Wednesday in Special Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. Finance Minister assured Cabinet meeting all financial resources would be utilised, till the next budget, for generation in order to meet energy requirements. Energy Monitoring Control Room will be set up in Water and Power Ministry, which will have round the clock surveillance of energy situation. One member of Cabinet Energy Committee will sit in Control Room to monitor evolving situation.

Print, electronic media will be kept abreast of latest situation with each passing day so that people should know exact time and schedule of load management. Energy Conservation Plan will be fully implemented. It decided theft and recovery issues in WAPDA would be dealt in very strict manner and all necessary steps including legislation would be taken to ensure compliance. – Dailytimes
