LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari has decided to contact the influential families of Punjab ahead of general elections and in this connection constituted a three-member committee to implement this task.
As per details, President Zardari constituted the committee headed by Federal Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin to contact influential families with strong political backgrounds in Punjab. The other members of the committee comprised opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz and Minister of State Imtiaz Safdar Warraich.According to sources, the committee has contacted Nawani family of Bhakkar, Rana family of Arifwala and Dareshak family of Dera Ghazi Khan.
Moreover, the other influential political figures of Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Lahore and others would also be approached to join PPP. The President has asked the committee to accelerate the efforts and assure the families that PPP would award party ticket to those who have won the national or provincial seats as independent candidates. – Onlinenews
