PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government made four senior officers including Commissioner Bannu Division Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and constituted a five-member commission for the inquiry of the incident of attack on Central Prison Bannu.

Briefing the media persons alongwith Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Interior Secretary Azam Khan, spokesperson Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that blatant attack of militants on Central Jail Bannu is not an ordinary incident and those who demonstrated negligence on the occasion would be suspended from their duties.

He said that an Inquiry Commission has been constituted comprising Dr Ehsan-ul-Haq, Director Reforms Management & Monitoring Unit, Chief Secretary’s Office Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Chairman, Muhammad Mushtaq Jadoon, Secretary to Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Elementary & Secondary Education Department as member, Syed Alamgir Shah, Special Secretary Home, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-member, Additional Inspector General (Investigation) Police Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-member and Additional Inspector General (Prisons) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as member.

He said that those officers who have been made officer on Special Duty (OSD) include IG prisons Arshad Majeed Mohmand, Commissioner Bannu Abdullah Mehsud, DIG Bannu Muhammad Iftikhar Khan and Deputy Superintendent Central Jail Bannu Zahid Khan.He said that the Inquiry Commission will investigate the facts leading to the incident and to fix responsibility upon those who demonstrated negligence at the time of the incident. They informed that the committee would complete and submit the inquiry report within 15 days.

He said that the Inquiry Commission would work on several aspect of security and investigation and would consider that whether the concerned staff was active and present at the time of the attack; whether the attack was retaliated or not; whether the security of the jail was assessed after three months duration; whether district police were timely informed or not, these questions would need considerable attention.He said that government would inform the masses regarding the investigation process of the incident and this would be also investigated that where large number of vehicles disappeared after the incident.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Interior Secretary Azam Khan informed that a total of 384 detainees have escaped from the Central Prison of Bannu, in which 66 prisoners have returned while the escaped detainees also include 21 serious offenders.To a question regarding deployment of FC on border areas with FATA, he said that only 38 pc of FC personnel have been deputed on frontier region while 62 pc of the personnel are working in Islamabad and others provinces of the country.He said that soon Federal government would be contacted to depute these personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. – Nation
