KARACHI: Dust storm hit the provincial metropolis and many other cities of Sindh here Monday evening.
According to met office, the storm has originated from the desert region of Balochistan as fresh western disturbance is also passing over the northern areas of the country due to which change in wind pattern has been occurred in the province.Dust storms, even of mild intensity could cause health problems like difficulty in breathing and irritation in eyes and precautions are required till the storm continues.
The Meteorological Department here on Monday said that Sindh including Karachi was facing a rain with dust-storm which will remain continue for 12 hours.Meanwhile, the dust storm disrupted flights schedule at Karachi and other airports badly. Sukkur, Nawabshah, Quetta and Gawadar airports have also been shut for all flights due to reduced visibility.
At Karachi Airport, several domestic and international flights were cancelled while some planes in the air were diverted to other destinations. The areas in the South and South-West of the country are in the sever grip of dust-storm. Earlier, the met department forecast that dust-thunderstorm was likely at isolated places of Karachi Larkana, Hyderabad, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
