KARACHI: Following a change in wind direction over the past couple of days, the city has again started receiving cool air from the northwest, with the result that the mercury has dropped by four degrees centigrade, according to Met officials.
The officials said on Thursday that the city had earlier been getting winds from the relatively warm northeastern side (Rajasthan, India) until cooler winds from the northwestern side (Kandahar, Afghanistan) replaced them turning the city weather chillier. The maximum temperature recorded on Thursday was 28 degrees centigrade and the minimum 16 degrees centigrade with humidity being recorded at 18 per cent.
Forecasting dry weather for Friday, the officials said that the maximum temperature was expected to range between 28 and 30 degrees centigrade.A few days back, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32 degrees centigrade and the minimum at 17 degrees centigrade as the Siberian high moved from its normal position owing to a low pressure that had developed over the Arabian Sea. This affected the entire regional weather system and the city experienced a few warm days in December, unusual in the year’s last month. – Dawn
