The roar of the crowd could be heard all over downtown Los Angeles on Monday, Nov. 14, as the vampires and werewolves descended on the Nokia Theatre at LA Live.
It was, of course, the highly anticipated premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” screaming into the City of Angels, and the excitement had been in the air for days. Literally. For thousands of fans of the story of Bella, Edward and Jacob began jockeying for position days beforehand, camping out behind the barricades that lined the massive plaza. And it paid off for the lucky ones who snagged front row positions, for Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner all delightedly posed for photos and signed autographs for the adoring fans before walking the black carpet into the packed theater.
Lautner, who at 19 is the youngest of the trio, learned early on in the “Twilight” experience that having such rabid fans is the key to the incredible success of the film franchise.”Our jobs are to make the fans believe that we are these characters,” he said at an earlier press conference to promote this fourth film in the series. “That’s the goal with these fans.” The young actor is still slightly bemused by what a phenomenon the whole thing has become, and laughed when he recalled the extent that people have gone to in order to express their love.
“I’ve had a few girls that tattooed a picture of me or my signature to their arm. I mean, that blows my mind. Something new happens every single day and it continues to blow my mind. You’d think that we’d all get used to it and expect it, but every time something happens we’re like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ We wouldn’t be here to day, promoting a fourth movie, if it wasn’t for that amount of passion. As the three leads soaked up the love, plenty of the flim’s other stars joined the wild scene, including a now dark-haired Kellan Lutz, a wackily suited Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli and a collection of gorgeous gals. Ashley Greene led the way in a red strapless gown, while Nikki Reed chose a Grecian green look. Other cast members like Elizabeth Reaser, Booboo Stewart, Billy Burke and Mia Maestro happily greeted Stephenie Meyer, whose novels made the whole thing possible.
Snagging a seat in the massive Nokia Theatre wasn’t easy, but famous fans came out in droves to be the first to catch the movie. Racecar driver Danica Patrick led that pack, along with Jennifer Love Hewitt, Heather Locklear and her daughter Ava Sambora, Julia Jones, Ashley Tisdale and the Jenner sisters, Kendall and Kylie. At the after party held in a huge tent next door, the stars partied late into the night, celebrating the incredible phenomenon that is “The Twilight Saga.” As Pattinson said at that earlier press conference, “It’s you’re being propelled by some kind of jet. I feel like it hasn’t really slowed down. I’m still trying to figure out where I’m at, but it’s been fun and it’s totally bizarre to me.” – Yahoonews
