ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Adm (Retd) Fasih Bukhari on Monday ordered an inquiry against the officials of Pakistan Railways, who are presumably involved in a mega corruption scandal.
The scandal is pertaining to massive misappropriation, embezzlement and misuse of authority. According to a NAB press release issued, the inquiry had been ordered in compliance of the order of the Supreme Court.
A high level team had been tasked to carry out investigation. The inquiry so conducted will determine the amount embezzled and the extent of responsibility of the railway officials as well as others. Moreover, the chairman asked for the transfer of proceedings pertaining to Pakistan Railways pending with the FIA to the NAB. – Dailytimes
