APNAC starts boycott coverage of Punjab govt

All Pakistan News Agencies CouncilIslamabad: All Pakistan News Agencies Council (APNAC) has started boycotting the coverage of all events of Punjab government from 1st November due to inappropriate behaviour and non-cooperation in professional matters by the provincial government.

The decision to this effect was taken at an important meeting of All Pakistan News Agencies Council held here last week with Mohsin Baig, President of the Council (Editor-in-Chief of Online News Agency) in chair. Among others the General Secretary, Shakeel Ahmed Turrabi (Editor-in-Chief SANA) and Vice President Ammar Yasir (Editor-in-Chief NNI news agency), Deputy Editor-in-Chief of ANN Umer Farooqi, Aslam Khan MD Inter News Services and Chaudhary Adnan Iftikhar, Resident Director of PPI news agency were present in the meeting.

The council had given Punjab government one week time to mend its ways and failed to change its behaviour In view of this the All Pakistan News Agencies Council decided that news agencies would not entertain any event, news item and press releases issued either by the Punjab government or its subordinate departments form next month. – Onlinenews
