ISLAMABAD – PML-N President Nawaz Sharif on Monday held the PPP-led government responsible for all the national troubles and declared President Asif Ali Zardari a ‘threat to democracy’. Addressing the meeting of party’s Central Working Committee (CWC), Nawaz announced that the PML-N fully supports the protests against the power outages and directed his party men to lead the mass protest demonstrations. He alleged PPP of pursuing ‘atrocious policies’ and bring the country’s economy at the verge of destruction through its inaction on the multiple crises. The ongoing war, energy and water crises, rampant corruption and poor law and order have made the lives of citizens miserable, he added. “Due to prevailing conditions the foreign investors are also running out of Pakistan,” he bemoaned.
The PML-N chief claimed that government manipulates members of the parliament to get resolutions passed. He also blamed the PPP-led government of not taking the opposition, the parliament or any political party on board on any issue. Moreover, the parliament was insulted by not implementing its unanimous resolutions. “The government contacts the parliament and opposition only when it is under pressure and when the pressure releases, it forgets everything,” he said. Sharif reminded the audience that he considered President Zardari a ‘threat’ to democracy which he said has proved to be true. He said $12 million were embezzled in the government departments during the last three years, as held President Zaedari and his cronies responsible for it, adding that “No foreign help was needed if we control this corruption.” Nawaz also alleged that the aid amount for flood victims of Sindh has been spent somewhere else.
Nawaz said that it was because of government’s unwise policies and gross irresponsibility that Pakistan today was being threatened and it has been isolated at international level. “Pakistan has never experienced such loneliness in the international community… Despite huge sacrifices in the war on terror, the pressure on Pakistan has been increasing, but the rulers have turned a blind eye to this perverse situation.” “Today we are being told that we are facing threats from the US, but how the Americans could be declared responsible for it when our president and prime minister are congratulating the US after the Abbottabad like incident,” he said.
A private TV channel quoting sources reported that the PML-N parliamentarians during the CWC meeting have decided to protest outside the Presidency against load shedding. The meeting also decided that PML-N MNAs would voice their concerns on national issues during the National Assembly session. Nation
