Farzana arrives in New Delhi to attend SAARC moot

ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Farzana Raja, on special directives of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Wednesday arrived in New Delhi while leading a high level delegation to represent Pakistan in “SAARC Conference on Poverty Alleviation, Socio Economic Development, Public Health and Serving Poor Masses”.  The conference is being held from September 7 to 9 and it will chalk out SAARC’s vision for next 25 years regarding poverty alleviation, socio economic development, public health and serving poor masses, , said a message from the Indian capital.

During the conference, Farzana Raja will apprise the participants about the various steps being taken in Pakistan regarding poverty alleviation especially the efforts of BISP in this regard. Besides, she will highlight the possibilities of enhanced cooperation between the SAARC countries regarding poverty alleviation, socio-economic development and public health.Earlier, Farzana Raja met President Asif Ali Zardari and informed him about forthcoming SAARC Conference, her recent visit to China, Sino-Pak bilateral relation and various MoUs singed in Beijing between the two countries during her visit.The President lauded Farzana Raja on her successful China visit and performance of BISP whereby directing her to expand the programme further.Farzana Raja also congratulated President Asif Ali Zardari on completion of three years in the President office. – APP
