Malik rules out compromise on govt’s efforts

KARACHI: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has ruled out any compromise in government’s efforts to restore law and order in Karachi.He was talking to media after presiding over high-level meetings with those dealing with law and order. He also met with Home Sindh Minister Manzoor Wassan. “We will not spare any body” and that action against criminals would be taken without any discrimination.

He said that those arrested would soon be brought before the media persons to narrate their modus operandi and expose those on whose directions they committed criminal actions.Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Manzoor Wassan said that all efforts were being made to bring normalcy in Karachi and other parts of the province with the help of Federal Government.

Aerial view: Interior minister had an aerial view of the troubled western part of the city on Friday to get first hand knowledge about the law and order situation.During his visit, he saw pickets of police and Rangers in various areas including Surjani Town covering Banaras, Kati Pahari, Gulshan Maymar, Taiser Town and other areas.He further said that normalcy was being returned as witnessed by him with the movement of people in busy markets shopping for ‘Iftar’.His helicopter also landed at Surjani Town where he was given a rousing welcome by a large number of people of the area. The people along with the minister chanted slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. Sindh home minister also accompanied the minister.

Meeting with religious leader: Rehman Malik Friday held a meeting with the religious leader and head of Nizam-e-Mustafa Party Haji Hanif Tayyab, and discussed law and order situation here.The minister discussed measures to maintain peace in the city in consensus with all the parties in the larger interest of the country. They held the meeting at the Crisis Management Cell.Later, talking to mediamen Tayyab said that he discussed in detail about the law and order situation and recent targeted killings in Karachi.He said that the interior minister has asked the religious parties to spread the message of peace and brotherhood among the masses. – Dailytimes
