LAHORE: The Gujjarpura Investigation police on Thursday arrested the main accused, a student of BSC Honours at University of Engineering and Technology for e-mailing paper to more than 18 persons, a lab assistant and seven beneficiaries of the paper. All the 11 arrested accused have been handed over to the Anti-Corruption for further investigation.
Gujjarpura Investigation In-charge Mehdi Kazmi arrested a BSc Honours student namely Naseer, who is said to be the main accused and had emailed the entrance test paper to around 18 persons. Reportedly, he has been arrested after seeing the video recording of CCTV cameras installed in the net café of already arrested accused Shuja Zaidi.
Investigators said the video recording of the CCTV camera at net café indicated flats located in the same area with a name of Eden Heights. The college identity cards of the students residing in the flats located in Eden Heights Plaza have also been collected. Shuja Zaidi, whose computer and email address was allegedly used by the Naseer, identified Naseer from the copy of his University Identity Card over which they raided the university hostel and arrested him. During preliminary interrogation, Naseer named seven students, who were also arrested by the investigation police from Eden Heights.
Earlier Police had arrested Anees, who confessed his crime in police custody and told police that he memorised 18 questions from the question paper and he later informed different students, appearing in the entry test. He also confessed that LAB Assistant namely Ashraf also helped him over which police arrested Ashraf. SP Investigation Civil Lines told that the accused have been handed over to the Anti-Corruption Department as they would further investigate the case.The question paper leakage suspects were identified by a specially constituted Chief Minister’s technical team comprising, University of Health Sciences (UHS Lahore) Controller of Examinations Dr Junaid S Khan, Punjab Board of Technical Education Controller of Examinations Prof Muhammad Tariq, PITB Joint Director Faisal Shahzad and Anti-Corruption Deputy Director (Technical) Sheikh Irfan Ali.
Motorway police: National Highways and Motorway Police N-5 Central claimed to have foiled two attempts of dacoity, prevented abduction, seized huge amount of liquor and recovered arms, ammunition and road signboards after arresting 17 criminals involved in different felony acts besides reuniting a lost child with his aggrieved family.Foiling two attempts of dacoity and abuction during last few days, the patrol officers of NH&MP arrested Bismillah Khan who snatched Rs 76000 from Riaz of Faisalabad and Masood, Tahir, Zahoor, Nawaz who tried to abduct Muhammad Aamir of Sadiqabad.
Similarly 12 other criminals namely Hanif, Asghar, Ashiq, Ejaz, Imran, Bismillah Khan, Sajjad, Sadiq, Asmat, Nayyar, Mubasshar, Waseem were also arrested for their involvement in different criminal activities and 280 litres of chemical made liquor, pistols, kalashnikov along with ammunition, stolen road signboards etc were recovered from their possession. On the directions of DIG N-5 Central Fateh Sher Joyia the arrested criminals and recovered items were handed over to local police for further investigation and legal action. Similarly the patrol officers of Motorway Police helped a 11-year-old Taimoor to reunite with his aggrieved family. – Nation
