LAHORE: The provincial government on Sunday sent a summary to Punjab governor for promulgation of an ordinance so as to enforce the Drug Act in the province in the light of 18th constitutional amendment.The ordinance will authorise Punjab to register medicines, issue manufacturing licenses and fix the prices under the 18th Amendment under which these functions have been devolved from the federal government to provinces.A spokesman said in the light of the 18th Amendment the Punjab government would evolve a comprehensive strategy in consultation with the pharmaceutical industry for resolving its problems at local level.He said as a result of Drug Act’s enforcement, quality medicines would become available to the citizens at reasonable prices and any complaints in this regard would also be addressed. – Dawn
