KARACHI: Raids are being conducted for arrest of culprits involved in the shootout at a Defence dance party that claimed lives of six people and caused injuries to 11 others on Saturday night. According to Station Investigation Officer (SIO) Gizri, Munir Ahmad, some 16 persons had been nominated in the case, of them; two were arrested while rest had absconded. He said although the roots of absconders were going towards highly influential people, but the relevant authorities had given go-ahead signal to take responsible to task. He said a tug of war between the two parties caused the incident.He said Faisal Pathan and Arif Rajar had also been nominated in several cases in the past and now they had also been accused in this incident. He said accused Arif was arrested in 2004, 2005 and 2006 but was released, adding that the police in a raid to arrest accused Arif in 2007 had also recovered huge cache of weapons from the spot. He said the department had no political pressure in this connection, however, bigwigs in the government machinery, were keen to resolve the matter in transparent manner. – Dailytimes
